If there’s mouse movement or a keyboard stroke detected within this timeframe, the user is considered active. Conversely, the absence of keyboard or mouse activity indicates the user is inactive.

The calculation of the overall activity percentage for that 10-minute duration involves totaling all active seconds and applying the following formula: Active seconds / 600 equals the activity rate percentage.

Statily also tracks the user’s active system usage. If there’s no activity for 3 minutes (adjustable duration), the user is automatically labeled as ‘inactive’ by default. In this scenario, the desktop client provides the user with an option to exclude the inactive time from their records.

Let’s simplify how we determine activity rates;

If you have 100 seconds of tracked time, and 30 seconds of idle time (no mouse or keyboard movement), you’d have a 70% activity rate.

Seconds

Mouse Movement

Keyboard Strokes

No Activity

Total Activity

15

Yes

15

25

Yes

25

30

Yes

0

20

Yes

Yes

20

10

Yes

10

Total: 70 Seconds

In this context, 70 seconds signifies that 70% of the total 100 seconds were actively utilized by the user.
